How do I use an online stopwatch with lap times?
Click Start to begin timing. Press Lap to record a split time without stopping. Press Stop to pause. Press Reset to clear. Lap times are listed with best (green) and worst (red) highlighted automatically.
Does this online stopwatch work in the background?
Yes. Our stopwatch uses requestAnimationFrame for accurate timing and continues while you are on other parts of the page. The browser tab title also shows the current time so you can monitor it without switching tabs.
How accurate is the online stopwatch?
Our free stopwatch displays hundredths of a second (centiseconds) accuracy. It uses the browser's performance.now() API for high-resolution timing, making it suitable for sports, cooking, and general timing needs.
